The 2024 NFL season is upon us, so it’s time to scour the waiver wire to bolster our fantasy football rosters.

This page will include players that are rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo leagues.

So without further ado, let’s dive into the top Week 2 waiver wire pickups.

QB Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups

Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (34% rostered in Yahoo leagues)

Baker Mayfield is in the waiver wire column for the second week in a row. We just saw the Bucs’ quarterback pick apart the Commanders, completing 24-of-30 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns while adding 21 yards on the ground.

It’s clear that new offensive coordinator Liam Coen has already made an impact, deploying Chris Godwin in the slot, which is where he works best. This gives Mayfield another reliable target underneath, as Godwin wasn’t as effective on the perimeter last year.

Mayfield has an indoor game vs the Lions in Week 2. This is a projected shootout with a 50.5-point game total. Look for the former Brown to build off his strong performance in Week 1.

Check out where Mayfield lands in our Week 2 fantasy football rankings.

RB Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups

Jaylen Wright, Miami Dolphins (21%)

Jaylen Wright was a healthy scratch in Week 1, but be patient with this dynamic rookie. If De’Von Achane or Raheem Mostert were forced to miss time, Wright would step in, even over Jeff Wilson Jr. — I think Wilson playing was just typical veteran deference in Week 1. There’s a chance that a hasty leaguemate will drop Wright after the zero in Week 1.

Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (21%)

Bucky Irving showed good burst against the Commanders, rushing for 62 yards on nine carries and adding two receptions for 14 yards. While this is still Rachaad White’s backfield, Irving is worth a stash as a hand-cuff with standalone value. The former Oregon running back is a strong change-of-pace option.

Tank Bigsby, Jacksonville Jaguars (5%)

Tank Bigsby outperformed Travis Etienne in Week 1, rushing for 73 yards on 12 carries (Etienne had 44 yards on 12 attempts). The second-year running back looks much better this season, so it’s clear that he’ll have somewhat of a role in this backfield. While I’m still high on Etienne, Bigsby needs to be rostered in more leagues.

Justice Hill, Baltimore Ravens (4%)

As expected, Justice Hill played ahead of Derrick Henry on passing downs against the Chiefs. But I would advise tempering your expectations here. The Ravens are likely to play with a lead more often, which means more carries for Henry. Hill is a matchup-based FLEX in only full-PPR formats.

WR Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups

Adonai Mitchell, Indianapolis Colts (32%)

Adonai Mitchell disappointed me in Week 1, but that was because Anthony Richardson missed him wide-open downfield on more than one occasion. Even though Alec Pierce had a better game, Mitchell is the one you want on the Colts. Trust me, the spike weeks are coming.

Xavier Legette, Carolina Panthers (16%)

The Panthers were an absolute dumpster fire in Week 1, but Xavier Legtte led the team with seven targets. This team just lost their best defensive player in Derrick Brown for the rest of the season — they’re going to find themselves in plenty of negative game scripts. You can stash Legette on your bench for later in the year.

Wan’Dale Robinson, New York Giants (10%)

Wan’Dale Robinson caught 6-of-12 targets for 44 yards against the Vikings. This is a full-PPR bench depth play, as there’s not much of a ceiling in other formats for a low aDOT slot receiver on a bad offense (this means that he’s often targeted near the line of scrimmage).

Greg Dortch, Arizona Cardinals (5%)

Greg Dortch has appeal in full-PPR leagues, fresh off a game where he put up six catches for 47 yards. However, there’s not a lot of upside here on a team that figures to get Marvin Harrison Jr. a lot more involved going forward. If you’re in a deep league, I’d grab Dortch as bench depth for the bye weeks.

Jalen McMillan, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5%)

Jalen McMillan made me proud after recommending him in Week 1, hauling in a 32-yard touchdown. His day could have been even better, as there were a couple of near-misses on downfield targets. The Bucs run a lot of 3-WR sets, so there’s upside here. You’re going to want to stash McMillan on your bench.

TE Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups

Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens (28%)

Isaiah Likely exploded for nine catches, 111 yards, and a touchdown against the Chiefs. The Ravens used both Likely and Mark Andrews on the field together, so both tight ends can finish as top-12 fantasy options this season. You’re probably going to have to break the bank for Likely in FAAB leagues. I’d recommend putting at least 20 percent of your budget.

Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers (2%)

If you’re playing in a deep league with larger rosters, now is the time to get Tucker Kraft at a severe discount. No one is going to target him because Jordan Love is out for a few weeks. You can reap the rewards later in the year, as it’s Kraft dominated the snap share over Luke Musgrave in Week 1. Remember, this is only with rosters with 10 bench spots.

Defense Streamers for Week 2

Seattle Seahawks (43%)

The Seahawks are in this column for the second week in a row after dominating the Broncos. This time, Seattle gets to face Jacoby Brissett and the Patriots. Ignore that win over the Bengals, who were atrocious at defending the run. Expect New England to have a lot more trouble against this Mike Macdonald defense.

Kicker Adds for Week 2

Matt Prater, Arizona Cardinals (7%)

After hitting a home run on my Chris Boswell stream for Week 1, it’s time to go back-to-back with Matt Prater. We’ve got a high-scoring game environment (50.5-point total) indoors for Prater. It’s a projected close game with the Rams as short road favorites. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Prater kick multiple fields goals here.
